A group of teenagers was seen stealing a Ronald McDonald statue from a McDonald’s location in Pennsylvania, USA.
In footage obtained by the Nesquehoning Police Department and shared on Facebook, the youths can be seen laughing as they leave the restaurant with the clown statue.
“We’re not kidding around. It was a full McKidnapping. Ronald was last seen smiling, as always, unaware of the betrayal. Witnesses say he didn’t even try to resist,” the NPD said in the post.
“To the suspects: We understand — times are tough and therapy is expensive. But kidnapping a plastic icon of joy? That’s a McCrime,” the department joked afterward.
The police are now asking the public to stay alert to find Ronald, who has been missing for a long time, “maybe at a party, in the passenger seat of a car, or sitting awkwardly in someone’s yard.”
But the Ronald statue may never return to its original restaurant. According to The New York Post, an identical clown statue is being sold on eBay for $2,500, with pickup listed in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, just an hour from Nesquehoning.
